Farm Bills row: Punjab, Haryana farmers extend 'rail roko' stir till Sept 19. Here's what happened so far

Farmers in Punjab and Haryana on Friday took to the streets in protest against the contentious farm Bills passed by Parliament recently. In Punjab, where the "bandh" was near-total, the "rail roko" agitation was extended by three days till September 29. Earlier, a farmers' body had announced to block trains from September 24 to 26. Shops, commercial establishments, vegetables and grains markets remained shut at almost all places with farmers' bodies describing it as "unprecedented" support for their cause.

PGI Chandigarh begins clinical trials of Oxford vaccine; three volunteers administered first dose

The Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, has administered the first dose of Oxford Covid-19 vaccine -- Covishield -- to three candidates on Friday, informed PGI Chandigarh Director, Prof Jagat Ram. The clinical trials of Oxford vaccine have started at PGI Chandigarh after the institute administered first dosage of the vaccine to three volunteers on Friday, Prof Jagat Ram, director, PGIMER said.

Earthquake hits Ladakh

An earthquake measuring 3.7 on the Richter Scale struck Ladakh in the wee hours on Saturday. According to the National Centre for Seismology, the tremors were felt at 02:14 am at a depth of 10 kilometres. "Earthquake of Magnitude:3.7, Occurred on 26-09-2020, 02:14:39 IST, Latitude: 34.80 and Longitude: 78.05, Depth: 10 Km, Location: Ladakh," the NCS tweeted.

PM Modi is also 'my son', says Shaheen Bagh 'dadi' who featured in TIME's 100 most influential people of 2020

PM Narendra Modi and 82-year-old Bilkis who was among many in the Shaheen Bagh protests in Delhi last year against CAA, NRC, made it to the TIME magazine 100 most influential people of 2020. However, now Bilkis has said that even PM Modi is "my son" and would be happy to meet him, if she is invited. On making into TIME 100 most influential people in 2020, the 82-year-old said she was happy to have been recognised by the TIME magazine, but would have been happier had her demand been met.
