J&K: CRPF jawan injured in Budgam terrorist attack; encounter underway in Tral

At least one jawan of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was injured after terrorists attacked CRPF party in Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday. The attack was reported from Chadoora area of Budgam district today.

India records single-day spike of 86,508 COVID-19 cases; tally crosses 57-lakh mark

India on Thursday recorded as many as 86,508 new coronavirus cases and 1,085 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to Union health ministry data. India's Covid-19 tally crossed 57 lakh-mark with Maharashtra recording the highest number of cases. The total cases of coronavirus infections stand at 5,732,519 while the death toll climbed to 91,149 the data updated at 8 am showed. Out of these 46,74,988 cured/discharged/migrated, according to the health ministry.

COVID-19: Bengal govt extends period of austerity measures till March '21

The West Bengal government has decided to extend the period of austerity measures taken to meet the expenditure for tackling the coronavirus pandemic from this September to March 31 next year. "The validity of this department memorandum specifying additional austerity measures to be followed by all state government and semi state government offices to tackle the huge unforeseen expenditure for combating Covid-19 disease in our state extended upto September 30.

Earthquake jolts Jammu and Kashmir

An earthquake measuring 3.7 on the Richter Scale jolted Jammu and Kashmir on Thursday. According to the National Center for Seismology (NCS), the tremors were felt 281 km North of Gulmarg, at 08:19 am today.

Global labour income estimated to have declined by 3.5 trillion USD in first 3 quarters of 2020: ILO

Global labour income is estimated to have declined by 10.7 per cent or USD 3.5 trillion in the first three quarters of 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the International Labour Organization (ILO) said on Wednesday. "The devastating losses in working hours caused by the COVID-19 pandemic have brought a 'massive' drop in labour income for workers around the world," the ILO said in its latest assessment of the effects of the pandemic on the world of work.

J&K: BJP worker shot dead by terrorists outside residence in Budgam

A BJP worker was shot dead outside his house in Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday. The incident was reported from Dalwash village in central Kashmir's Budgam district. The deceased was identified as Bhupinder Singh, who worked as the chairman of the Khag block development council (BDC) in Jammu and Kashmir. According to the details, terrorists had opened fire at Bhupinder Singh, who then died on the spot.
