The Orissa Electricity Regulatory Commission (OERC) has approved a proposal to hike power tariff by 20 paise per unit of electricity consumed in the state from October 1. However, the enhanced tariff will not be applicable for farmers using electricity for agricultural activities and people below the poverty line, the OERC said in a notification.
A massive fire broke out in Gujarat's Surat early on Thursday. The blaze was reported from an Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) plant in the city. According to the details, several explosions was also reported from the site. 
Parliament on Wednesday passed a Bill for the inclusion of Kashmiri, Dogri, and Hindi in the list of official languages in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, in addition to the existing Urdu and English. The Jammu and Kashmir Official Languages Bill, 2020 was passed by Rajya Sabha through voice vote. Lok Sabha had cleared the legislation on Tuesday.

The civic-run King Edward Memorial (KEM) Hospital in Mumbai on Wednesday began phase II and III trials of the Oxford Covishield vaccine for COVID-19, an official said.
