An earthquake of magnitude 4.2 on the Richter scale occurred on Tuesday in Barpeta, Assam. According to the National Centre for Seismology, the earthquake at 1:28 am.

India records 75,083 COVID-19 cases & 1,053 deaths in a single-day; tally crosses 55-lakh mark

India on Tuesday registered a records spike of 75,083 coronavirus cases in 24 hours taking the total number of infections to over 55 lakh, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The country also recorded 1,053 deaths in the last 24 hours, the cumulative toll reached 88,935. The total case tally stands at 55, 62,664 including 9,75,861 active cases while total recoveries stand at 44,97,868.

Lok Sabha passes Epidemic Diseases Bill to protect frontline COVID workers

A bill which proposed protection to frontline workers, including healthcare professionals, was passed on late Monday night proceedings of the Lok Sabha with a voice vote and support from all political parties. The Bill was passed a few minutes before 12 O'clock. Epidemic Diseases (Amendment) Bill, 2020, which was passed by the Rajya Sabha on Saturday, seeks to bring a law that punishes those who attack health workers or doctors who are fighting the coronavirus outbreak or during any situation similar to the current Covid-19 pandemic.

30 per cent salary cut for ministers, MLAs: Gujarat Assembly passes bill

The Gujarat assembly on Monday passed a bill to slash the salaries by 30 per cent of its legislators, including the speaker, Deputy speaker, and ministers due to the current crisis of coronavirus outbreak.
