More than 1 lakh vacancies in CAPFs, BSF, CRPF

Over one lakh posts are lying vacant in Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) like the BSF and the CRPF and the vacancies have occurred mostly due to retirement, resignation and deaths, the Rajya Sabha was informed on Monday. Union Minister of State for Home Nityanand Rai said the BSF has the highest number of vacancies (28,926), followed by the CRPF (26,506), the CISF (23906), the SSB (18,643), the ITBP (5,784) and the Assam Rifles (7,328).

One killed as aircraft crashes in Uttar Pradesh's Azamgarh

One person was killed after a small aircraft carrying 4 people crashed in Uttar Pradesh on Monday. The incident was reported from Sarai Meer in Azamgarh district of the state. According to the details, the aircraft crashed at nearly 11:20 am today.

J&K: Terrorists attack CRPF party in Srinagar; area cordoned off

Terrorists on Monday attacked a party of 110 battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Jammu and Kashmir. The incident was reported from Nowgam in Srinagar. Any injuries or loss of life were not reported in the attack.

India, China hold sixth Corps Commander-level talks in eastern Ladakh

India and China on Monday held their sixth Corps Commander-level talks at the Chinese side of the Chushul/Moldo meeting point in the Eastern Ladakh sector, to address the ongoing military standoff there. According to sources, Naveen Srivastava, Joint Secretary (East Asia) of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), also attended the Commanders' Conference today.

Mumbai's dabbawalas demand access to suburban local trains, threaten protests

Dabbawalas in Mumbai have threatened a protest if they are not permited travel on local trains. Mumbai's dabbawalas or lunch-box carriers, who are currently running in a restricted manner in light of the COVID-19 outbreak had earlier urged the Maharashtra government to permit them to travel in local trains, which would enable them to resume their business with full capacity. At present, only people employed in essential services are allowed to travel in suburban trains.

India records 86,960 COVID-19 cases & 1,130 deaths in a single-day; tally crosses 54-lakh mark

India on Monday registered a records spike of 86,960 coronavirus cases in 24 hours taking the total number of infections to over 54 lakh, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The country also recorded 1,130 deaths in the last 24 hours, the cumulative toll reached 87,882. The total case tally stands at 54,87,580 including 10,03,299 active cases while total recoveries stand at 43,96,399     .
