UP Police constable suspended for beating physically-challenged man

An Uttar Pradesh Police constable was suspended late on Saturday night after a video clip showed him thrashing a physically handicapped man in Kannauj. The Kannauj Police announced the suspension from its Twitter handle.

Taj Mahal, Agra Fort to reopen from Monday after 6 months of closure

31,661 Assistant teachers to be recruited in UP in one week

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed the basic education department to recruit 31,661 assistant teachers within a week. Rajasthan imposes Section 144 of CrPC in 11 districts amid rising COVID-19 cases

The Rajasthan government on Saturday decided to impose Section 144 of the CrPC in 11 districts of the state due to rising number of coronavirus cases. The state has 33 districts and the provision prohibits an assembly of more than five persons at a place. According to a release, the government also decided to continue the ban on social or religious functions till October 31.

India records single-day spike of 92,605 COVID-19 cases; tally crosses 54-lakh mark

India on Sunday recorded as many as 92,605 new coronavirus cases and 1,133 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to Union health ministry data. India's Covid-19 tally crossed 54 lakh-mark with Maharashtra recording the highest number of cases. The total cases of coronavirus infections stand at 54,00,620 while the death toll climbed to 86,752 the data updated at 8 am showed. Out of these 43,03,044 cured/discharged/migrated, according to the health ministry. As of Sunday morning, the total number of cases stood at 30,674,077 and the fatalities rose to 955,440, the University's Center for Systems Science and Engineering (CSSE) revealed in its latest update.
