Protesting against new farm Bills, Punjab farmer dies after consuming poison in Muktsar

A 70-year-old farmer has died after consuming some poisonous substance during a protest against the new farm Bills in Muktsar district of Punjab, police said on Saturday. Pritam Singh, a resident of Akkanwali village of Mansa district, consumed the poisonous substance Friday morning and died at a hospital later in the day, they said.

Al-Qaeda men nabbed from Kochi, rented homes during lockdown

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday busted an inter-state module of Al Qaeda operatives as it conducted raids in West Bengal and Kerala on Saturday morning. Three of the nine Qaeda men were arrested from Ernakulam district.

J&K LG announces economic package worth Rs 8,750 cr for business community to revive economy

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Saturday announced a relief package of Rs 1350 crore for Jammu and Kashmir in a bid to boost the business and the other ailing sectors that have suffered huge losses for several years in the newly formed Union Territory (UT). LG Sinha said that this is additional to the benefits of Atma Nirbhar Bharat and other measures taken by the government to comfort the business community.

India's Single-day recovery more than fresh COVID-19 cases as record 95,880 recuperate

Amid the rising number of coronavirus cases, India's single-day recovery outstripped the number of new infections as nearly 96,000 people recuperated from the novel coronavirus. The total number of cases went past 53 lakh, according to the Union Health Ministry data on Saturday. The figures updated at 8 am showed that while 95,880 people recovered from the virus in a span of 24 hours, 93,337 new infections were recorded during the period.

Nabbed Al Qaeda men amassed firecrackers to make IEDs: NIA

The NIA on Saturday busted an inter-state terror module sponsored by Al Qaeda from Pakistan. There were nine men arrested from West Bengal and Kerala who were planning attacks with IEDS, made from potassium procured from firecrackers. They planned to go to Kashmir for weapons delivery.
