30 coronavirus vaccine candidates being developed: Govt

Nearly 30 coronavirus vaccine candidates in pre-clinical and clinical stages are under development by the pharmaceutical industry and academia in India, Union Health Minister, Dr. Harsh Vardhan told the Parliament on Friday. While three of them are in the advanced stage of Phase I/II/III trials and 4 are in the advanced pre-clinical development stage he said.

Suspension lifted from Air India Express flights to/from Dubai; to operate as per schedule from Saturday

Amid suspension by the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Air India Express on Friday said that all Air India Express flights from or to Dubai will operate as per original schedule starting September 19. The Dubai aviation regulator cancelled Air India Express flights till October 2, citing that the flight had brought passengers with COVID-positive certificates twice during the last couple of weeks.

Monsoon withdrawal likely to begin next week: IMD

The Southwest Monsoon is likely to start withdrawing from west Rajasthan by the end of next week, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Friday. Conditions are likely to become favourable in the next two days for the withdrawal of monsoon. North Indians plains are also witnessing above normal temperatures, it said.

Ayushman Bharat CEO tests positive for COVID-19

The CEO of Ayushman Bharat Dr Indu Bhushan has tested positive for COVID-19. Taking to twitter,  Dr Bhushan said he is asymptomatic and has isolated himself. "Just informing that I’ve tested positive for Covid. Received the report this afternoon. I have no symptoms but am self-isolating. I request anyone who has been in contact with me to please monitor themselves and get tested. I'm sure I'll be back in harness soon!" Dr Indu Bhushan said on Twitter.

Can yoga help COVID-19 patients? Research on in Delhi hospitals

Clinicians and meditation practitioners have undertaken research in at least three Delhi hospitals to ascertain if yoga can improve the overall condition of COVID-19 patients. The Department of Science and Technology under the Ministry of Science and Technology had invited proposals for the study in April.

If everything goes as planned, COVID-19 vaccine will come by mid-2021: AIIMS doctor

Dr Sanjay Rai, head of the Community Medicine Department at AIIMS-Delhi on Friday said that there is a possibility of normalcy returning to India by mid-next year, with or without a coronavirus vaccine. Speaking to news agency ANI, the public health expert said, "By mid-next year, there's a possibility of normalcy even if vaccine comes or not. Till the time there is no effective vaccine available, Covid-19 preventive measures like wearing masks, hand hygiene etc, should be followed."
