Centre approved anti-viral medicines to treat COVID-19 patients, says SC

The Supreme Court on Wednesday said there was an approval by the Central government on use of Remdesivir and Fabiparivir as medicines to treat COVID-19. The top court was hearing a plea seeking registration of an FIR by the CBI against ten Indian pharmaceutical firms for manufacturing and selling these two medicines for treating COVID-19 patients allegedly without valid licences.

Karnataka Home Minister Bommai tests COVID-19 positive

Karnataka Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai tested positive for Covid-19 and is in home isolation as he is asymptomatic, an official said on Wednesday. "Bommai tested positive for the virus. As it is asymptomatic, he is under home quarantine in the city," one of his staff told IANS.

Highly decomposed body found in mortuary of govt hospital in Indore

An unclaimed body was found lying in a highly decomposed state in the mortuary of a government hospital in Indore due to alleged negligence of staffers, prompting authorities to order a probe into the matter. The matter came to light after a picture of the body, which looked liked a skeleton, surfaced on social media.

Delhi govt directs schools to observe 'dry day' once a week to prevent mosquito breeding

The Delhi government has directed all schools in the national capital to observe "dry day" once a week during which coolers, flower pots, bird pots, water containers, stagnant water and other possible sites be checked thoroughly to prevent mosquito breeding. The move is part of the awareness campaign for school students against vector-borne diseases like dengue, malaria and chikungunya.

Now, COVID-19 negative certificate not required to enter Himachal Pradesh

People travelling to Himachal Pradesh will not be asked to present a medical certificate from now on, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur confirmed on Wednesday. During the complete lockdown period in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak, those travelling to Himachal Pradesh were required to present a medical document showing they have tested negative for COVID-19. The rule has now been lifted.

Opinion | China is not willing to listen to reason

In the first official statement in Parliament on the India-China military standoff in Ladakh, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday said,  China is trying to unilaterally alter the status quo on the Line of Actual Control, while India wants to peacefully resolve the ongoing confrontation. Singh said, India is fully prepared to deal with any situation and the morale of Indian troops remains high despite several face-offs with the Chinese troops. “The Chinese actions reflect a disregard of our various bilateral agreements”, the Defence Minister said.
