Post-Diwali, India to return to pre-Covid aviation figures: Puri

In a significant statement Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri on Tuesday told the Rajya Sabha that by the time its Diwali and towards the end of the year, India would have pre-Covid aviation figures of 3,00,000 passengers a day.

Pakistan Parliament extends for four months ordinance on Jadhav

Pakistan's Parliament has extended for four months an ordinance that allowed Indian death-row prisoner Kulbhushan Jadhav to file an appeal against his conviction in a high court as required by the International Court of Justice. The International Court of Justice (Review and Reconsideration) Ordinance promulgated in May was set to expire on September 17 but the National Assembly or the lower house on Monday through a voice vote extended it for four months, the Dawn News reported.

With 75 pc less rainfall, Delhi temperature to touch 38-degrees Celsius mark

Lack of rain is likely to push the mercury further up in Delhi over the next two days, the weather department said on Tuesday. There has been no rain in the city for the past five days. According to the India Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature will likely touch the 38-degrees Celsius mark over the next two days amid lack of rain. It, however, forecast light rainfall on the weekend.

India records 83,809 COVID-19 cases and 1,054 deaths in a single-day; tally crosses 49-lakh mark

India on Tuesday registered a record 83,809 coronavirus cases in 24 hours taking the total number of infections to over 49 lakh, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The country also recorded 1,056 deaths in the last 24 hours, the cumulative toll reached 80,776. The total case tally stands at 49,30,237 including 9,90,061 active cases while total recoveries stand at 38,59,400.
