Facebook skips Delhi Assembly panel hearing over alleged hate speeches

Skipping the hearing of the Delhi Assembly's 'Peace and Harmony' committee, Facebook on Tuesday asked the assembly to withdraw a summon notice on alleged inaction in hate speech cases. The social media giant said it has already appeared before a parliamentary panel and the subject comes under the centre. The Delhi panel, stung by the response, said it would deliver "a final warning" to the social networking giant over the no-show.

Former Navy man Madan Sharma, who was recently attacked by Shiv Sena workers in Mumbai, met Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari on Tuesday. Sharma (62) met Koshyari at the Raj Bhavan in Mumbai. He was attacked last Friday for allegedly forwarding a cartoon lampooning Maharashtra Chief Minister and Shiv Sena president Uddhav Thackeray on social media.

Pakistan Parliament extends for four months ordinance on Jadhav

Pakistan's Parliament has extended for four months an ordinance that allowed Indian death-row prisoner Kulbhushan Jadhav to file an appeal against his conviction in a high court as required by the International Court of Justice. The International Court of Justice (Review and Reconsideration) Ordinance promulgated in May was set to expire on September 17 but the National Assembly or the lower house on Monday through a voice vote extended it for four months, the Dawn News reported.
