Kolkata Metro services resume for passengers after over 5 months of COVID hiatus

The Kolkata Metro resumed its services today (Monday), more than five months after its services were suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Earlier in a statement, the Kolkata Metro had said the regular passenger services of the Kolkata Metro on the North-South and the East-West lines will commence on Monday. According to officials, 110 trains will be operated on the North-South line every day, except Sundays when the services will be shut for sanitisation of rakes and stations.

Parliament to take several major decisions during Monsoon session: PM Modi

Ahead of the beginning of the Monsoon Session on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi asserted that major decisions will be taken during Parliament proceedings with discussions on various subjects in both the houses. The Prime Minister expressed his firm belief that all lawmakers will do a value edition during the discussion. The Monsoon Session will continue till October 1.

India records 92,070 COVID-19 cases and 1,136 deaths in a single-day; tally crosses 48-lakh mark

India on Monday registered a record 92,070 coronavirus cases in 24 hours taking the total number of infections to over 48 lakh, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The country also recorded 1,136 deaths in the last 24 hours, the cumulative toll reached 79,722. The total case tally stands at 4,846,427 including 9,86,598 active cases while total recoveries stand at 37,80,107.

PM Modi: 'Want coronavirus vaccine developed at the earliest'

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday hoped for a coronavirus vaccine at the earliest, asking countrymen to remain vigilant till a cure for the highly-infectious disease is found. Gyms, yoga centres allowed to open in Delhi from today; weekly markets allowed till Sept 30
