As many as 80 new special trains will begin to run from today (Saturday), in addition to the 230 trains already in operation. The reservations for these trains had begun on Thursday. The development was confirmed by Railway Board Chairman VK Yadav, who at a media briefing, said, "Eighty new special trains or 40 pairs of trains will start operating from September 12. These will run in addition to the 230 trains already in operation."

The Mumbai Police on Friday arrested six people, including a Shiv Sena member and a shakha pramukh, in connection with the attack on a retired Navy officer in Kondivali East area for forwarding a cartoon mocking Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray.

India records biggest one-day spike of 97,570 COVID cases, 1,201 deaths; tally crosses 46 lakh-mark
India on Saturday registered a record 97,570 coronavirus cases in 24 hours taking the total number of infections to over 46 lakh, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The country also recorded the highest deaths in a day with 1,201 in the last 24 hours, the cumulative toll reached 77,472. The total case tally stands at 46,59,985 including 9,58,316 active cases. Total recoveries stand at 36,24,197.
