Opinion | How China has launched a propaganda war against India

In the four-month-long standoff with the Indian army in eastern Ladakh, the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) now finds itself in a crisis of its own making. The Chinese army has therefore launched a propaganda war to intimidate India, whose army jawans stand firm and vigilant at the Line of Actual Control.

Maharashtra becomes 1st state to cross 1 million COVID-19 cases; Pune, Mumbai worst hit cities

Maharashtra became the first state to cross 10 lakh coronavirus cases with a record spike of 24,886 new cases, state health minister said on Friday. While the total of cases reached 10,15,681, the death toll due to the pandemic reached 28,724 with 393 new fatalities reported across the state.

18-year-old NEET aspirant hangs self over fear of failure; suicide note recovered

An 18-year-old NEET aspirant died by suicide in Madurai on Saturday. The incident comes a day before the conduct of the medical entrance examination. Identified as Jyoti Durga, the deceased has also left a suicide note wherein she has mentioned her fears of failure in the exam. According to the details, Durga had not been able to clear the NEET exam last year and had waited for a year to try again this year. Earlier on Friday, the deceased also had a discussion with her father and shared her concerns about the NEET exam.

Madhya Pradesh: Barber gives haircut to minister on stage, gets Rs. 60,000 on the spot

A young barber who wanted to open a shop was asked by a Madhya Pradesh minister to showcase his skills on stage during a function. The Forest Minister Vijay Shah gave him Rs. 60,000 on the spot. The incident took place at Gaulaimal in Khandwa district on Thursday.

In a first, Telangana doctors perform double lung transplant on COVID-19 patient

Doctors at a hospital in Telangana claimed to have successfully performed the country's first double lung transplant surgery on a 32-year-old COVID-19 patient, who was suffering from sarcoidosis that affected his lungs. The team of doctors led by Dr Sandeep Attawar performed the complex procedure on the man from Chandigarh, a release from Krishna Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) said. After recovery, the patient was discharged on Friday.

Fire breaks out at plastic factory in Delhi's Inderlok area

A fire broke out at a factory in Delhi on Saturday. The blaze was reported at a multi-storey plastic factory building at the Shahjada Bagh area of Inderlok. Nine fire tenders were rushed to the spot as the efforts to douse the flames continue.

India votes in favour of UNGA resolution, calling for multilateral cooperation to combat COVID

India, along with 168 nations, voted in favour of a COVID-19 resolution in the UN General Assembly that reaffirms international cooperation to respond to “one of the greatest global challenges” and acknowledges the World Health Organisation’s “key leadership role” in responding to the outbreak, a reference the US objected to as it opposed the resolution.
