According to reports, some of the attackers joined the crowd for the sheer 'fun' of it and posed for mobile cameras while the victim, Basid Khan, was being thrashed in the background on Friday.

Seven killed as van collides head-on with trailer in Rajasthan
Seven people were killed after their van collided head-on with a trailer in Bhilwara district of Rajasthan, police said on Sunday. The accident occurred near Kesarpura, which comes under the jurisdiction of Bijolia police station, on Saturday night when the victims were on their way to Bhilwara from Kota, they said.

August sees fastest growth of COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra
Maharashtra reported the fastest growth is coronavirus infection in August, registering over 3.70 lakh cases, a senior state health official said. According to data of the Maharashtra health department, the state reported 3,76,587 COVID-19 cases last month, 2,41,820 cases in July and 1,04,748 cases in June.

With single-day spike of 90,633, India's COVID tally crosses 41 lakh-mark
With 90,633 people testing positive for coronavirus infection on Wednesday, India's COVID-19 tally mounted to 41,13,812 including 8,62,320 active cases while recoveries surged to 31,80,866, according to Union Health Ministry data. The death toll, meanwhile, climbed to 70,626 with 1,065 new fatalities being reported in a span of 24 hours, the data updated at 8 am showed.

Kesavananda Bharati, Kerala Seer who stood for protecting Constitution, dies
Kesavananda Bharati Sripadagalvaru, the Kerala seer who stood for protecting the Constitution, has passed away. Bharati, whose property rights case in the Supreme Court in 1973 helped define basic rights under the Constitution, breathed his last at his ashram in Edaneer in Kasargod district of north Kerala this morning. He was 79.
