Murthal: Amrik-Sukhdev, Dharmendra-owned Garam Dharam dhabha shut after 75 staffers test COVID-positive

Amrik-Sukhdev, Haryana's famous dhaba was sealed on Thursday after 65 of its staff members tested positive for COVID-19. According to a senior official, a total of two dhabas at Haryana's Murthal were sealed after as many as 75 members of the staff had tested positive for the novel coronavirus. Commenting on the closure of Amrik-Sukhdev, Sonipat Deputy Commissioner Shyam Lal Poonia said a majority of 65 workers have tested positive at the Amrik-Sukhdev dhaba. Ten other workers, employed at Garam Dharam, owned by Bollywood actor Dharmendra, were also tested positive, he said.

India records 83,341 new COVID-19 cases, 1,096 deaths in a day; tally breaches 39-lakh mark

With 83,341 people testing positive for coronavirus infection on Wednesday, India's COVID-19 tally mounted to 39,36,748 including 8,31,124 active cases while recoveries surged to 30,37,152, according to Union Health Ministry data. The death toll, meanwhile, climbed to 68,472 with 1,096 new fatalities being reported in a span of 24 hours, the data updated at 8 am showed.

No tokens, trains may skip a few stations: How Delhi Metro plans to open services after 5 months

Rajasthan caps COVID-19 treatment cost at private hospitals

The Rajasthan government on Thursday fixed rates for coronavirus treatment at private hospitals, keeping the charges at Rs 5,000 to Rs 9,900 a day. The decision has come amid reports that private hospitals were charging an exorbitant fee for the treatment. According to a notification issued by the state Medical and Health Department, the cost of treatment in hospitals not certified by the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) has been kept at Rs 5,000 to Rs 9,000 per day.

US to allow Air India to conduct ground handling at airports

The United States has announced that it plans to restore Air India's ability to self-conduct its ground handling operations at American airports. Issuing an order in this regard, US Department of Transportation reversed its previous order of July 2019 that had suspended the right of Air India to self-handle at US airports.

Encounter breaks out between militants, security forces in J&K's Baramulla

An encounter broke out on Friday between security forces and militants in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir. Security forces launched a cordon and search operation at Yedipora in Pattan area of Baramulla district in north Kashmir following specific information about the presence of militants. Meanwhile, an army officer was injured in the encounter. He has been taken to 92 Base Hospital here for treatment.
