Southern districts of Bengal to receive heavy rain, thunderstorms due to cyclonic circulation

A cyclonic circulation over Gangetic West Bengal is likely to cause thunderstorms and rain in the southern districts of the state, the Met Department said on Wednesday. The Sub-Himalayan West Bengal could experience heavy rain from Thursday onwards with the intensity likely to increase on Saturday in a couple of districts, it said.

Assam Assembly passes bill to protect tangible heritage

The Assam Assembly on Wednesday passed a bill to protect, preserve and restore tangible heritage, which are currently not covered under any national or state law. The passage of the Assam Heritage (Tangible) Protection, Preservation, Conservation and Maintenance Bill, 2020 was termed as historic by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, who said it is a step towards implementing the Clause 6 of the Assam Accord.

International passengers taking connecting flights can now take COVID tests at entry airports

International passengers who have to take connecting domestic flights after landing in India will have the option of getting themselves tested for COVID-19 at the entry airports, the Civil Aviation Ministry said on Wednesday. If the RT-PCR test result is negative, the international passenger will be allowed to catch his or her connecting domestic flight and he or she will not need to undergo any institutional quarantine at the destination city, the ministry's order said.
