NEP 2020 lacks clarity, cannot be applicable to entire country: West Bengal government

The committee formed by the West Bengal government to study the New Education Policy 2020 (NEP) is of the view that certain features of it lacked clarity while several others may not be applicable to the entire country, almost each state of which has a different cultural heritage, a member of the panel said on Sunday.

Amit Shah recovers after post-COVID care, discharged from AIIMS

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who was admitted to AIIMS in Delhi on August 18 for post-COVID care, has been discharged from the hospital. Shah reached his residence on Monday morning. Earlier on Saturday, authorities at AIIMS had said the Union Minister has recovered and is likely to be discharged in a short time.

No money for last rites, man 'abandons' mother's body on footpath in Hyderabad

A 70-year old woman's body was allegedly left abandoned by her son on a footpath in the Banjara Hills area in Hyderabad, police said on Sunday. The woman had died after having fever for the last four and her son claimed that he left the body wrapped in a blanket as he did not have money to perform her last rites, police said.

Nagpur: Part of bridge collapses following heavy rains; several rescued

A portion of a bridge collapsed following heavy rains in Nagpur on Sunday. According to the details, heavy rains in the catchment area of rivers in Madhya Pradesh led to a rise in water levels in several rivers in Maharashtra, which led to the bridge collapse. Locals said that the collapse has led to the area being cut off and further claimed that the rising waters have affected numerous villages around the rivers.

15 police personnel, several mourners injured in clash over Muharram processions in Srinagar

Scores of mourners were injured over the weekend after security forces fired pellets and tear shells on Muharram processions at Bemina and Zadibal areas in Srinagar, even as police said more than 15 of its personnel were injured in stone pelting. Photos of some of those who were injured in pellet firing went viral on social media. Suhail, one of those injured in Bemina on Saturday, said police fired pellets on a peaceful procession.
