Plumber averts major accident, prevents derailment of train in Uttar Pradesh

In a miraculous incident, an alert plumber helped in averting a major train accident in Uttar Pradesh's Moradabad district. The incident took place on Saturday. Chandrasen Saini, a plumber, was on his way to relieve himself when he spotted a crack on the railway track, minutes before the Amritsar-Howrah parcel train, with two military compartments attached, was scheduled to cross the track.

Delhi at 50-day high with nearly 2,000 COVID-19 cases; death toll at 4,404

Delhi recorded as many as 1,954 fresh COVID-19 cases on Saturday, the city's highest single-day spike in August till date and even in 50-days. With this the tally of coronavirus cases in the state has jumped over 1.71 lakh, while the death toll from the disease mounted to 4,404.

Metro trains, schools, gatherings, flights, cinema halls, bars: All you need to know about Unlock 4

India is entering the fourth phase of unlocking starting September 1. The Union Home Ministry on Saturday announced major relaxations in the Unlock 4 guidelines. One of the major announcements was the permission for metro trains to travel. Congregations of up to 100 people will be permitted from September 21. The home ministry said the new guidelines were based on feedback received from the states and union territories, and extensive consultations held with related central ministries and departments. The home ministry said that state governments shall not impose any local lockdown outside the containment zones without prior consultation with the central government. Lockdown shall continue to be implemented strictly in the containment zones till September 30. Unlock 4 will come into effect from September 1 and will continue till September 30. India records highest single-day spike of 78,761 COVID-19 cases; tally crosses 35-lakh mark

India on Sunday recorded as many as 78,761 new coronavirus cases and 948 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to Union health ministry data. India's Covid-19 tally crossed 35 lakh-mark with Maharashtra recording the highest number of cases. The total cases of coronavirus infections stand at 35,42,734 while the death toll climbed to 63,498 the data updated at 8 am showed. Out of these 27,13,934 cured/discharged/migrated, according to the health ministry.
