Heavy rain lashes parts of Delhi-NCR

Heavy rain lashed several parts of Noida in Uttar Pradesh on Friday.  According to reports, the eastern parts of Noida and western parts of Greater Noida received heavy rains after a cloudy morning. Meanwhile, western parts of Noida including sectors 112, 122, 16, and 18 also witnessed moderate to heavy rain.

Doctor turns ambulance driver, ferries patient to hospital

A 30-year-old doctor is being hailed as a real "COVID warrior" after he drove an ambulance to ferry a critically ill elderly coronavirus patient to a hospital from a care centre. Dr. Ranjeet Nikam said since the driver of the ambulance suddenly fell ill and there was no one to replace him immediately, he decided to step in along with another doctor, Rajendra Rajpurohit, to ensure the patient gets urgent medical attention.

SC refuses to entertain PIL to postpone Bihar polls, says COVID-19 cannot be ground

Former President Pranab Mukherjee is under intensive care and being treated for a lung infection, Army Research and Referral Hospital said today. He was admitted to the Army's Research and Referral Hospital in Delhi Cantonment on August 10, where he was operated for removal of a clot in the brain.

Vegetable prices soar as Jammu reels under heavy rains, flash floods; landslides block highways

Jammu residents on Friday complained of high vegetable prices for the last few days due to incessant rains. Moreover, the local administration is on high alert as Jammu witnessed rainfall for the third consecutive day today. Giving out details, Jai, a customer said, "Vegetables which were selling for Rs 30 per kg, are now being sold at Rs 60 a kilogram, we cannot afford it."

First time post lockdown, airlines allowed to serve meals on board

The government has permitted the airlines to serve pre-packed snacks, meals and beverages on domestic flights and hot meals on international flights, according to an official order. Moreover, any passenger who refuses to wear a face mask in a flight can be put on the no-fly list by the airline, said a senior official of the aviation regulator DGCA.

Andaman & Nicobar Islands: 10 members of Great Andamanese tribe test positive for coronavirus

Ten members of the Great Andamanese tribe in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands have tested positive for coronavirus on Thursday. According to reports, two have been hospitalised. Out of 37 samples tested, four more from the Great Andamanese tribe were found to be positive, Health Department Deputy Director and Nodal Officer Avijit Roy told PTI.
