Andaman & Nicobar Islands: 10 members of Great Andamanese tribe test positive for coronavirus

Ten members of the Great Andamanese tribe in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands have tested positive for coronavirus on Thursday. According to reports, two have been hospitalised. Out of 37 samples tested, four more from the Great Andamanese tribe were found to be positive, Health Department Deputy Director and Nodal Officer Avijit Roy told PTI.

Bihar: Tej Pratap Yadav says no dispute with Raghuvansh 'uncle'

All is not well in the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) Party in Bihar. Party's fighting the RJD are trying to cash in on leader Tej Pratap Yadav's "lota" remark on his senior party colleague Raghuvansh Prasad ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections in the state. Raghuvansh Prasad is a senior RJD leader and was once considered very close to party founder Lalu Prasad Yadav. However, during a media interaction on Thursday, the elder son of RJD chief Lalu Prasad changed his approach towards Prasad. Addressing the latter as uncle, Tej Pratap said his statement was "not properly presented by the media".

India records highest single-day spike of 77,266 COVID-19 cases; tally crosses 33-lakh mark

India witnessed a spike in coronavirus cases again on Friday morning after the country recorded as many as 77,266 new coronavirus cases and 1,057 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to Union health ministry data. India's Covid-19 tally crossed 33 lakh-mark with Maharashtra recording the highest number of cases.

India to procure more Phalcon airborne warning and control systems from Israel

The government is in the final stage of approving the acquisition of two Phalcon airborne warning and control systems (AWACS) for the Indian Air Force from Israel at a cost of around USD 1 billion, official sources said on Thursday. The fresh negotiations with Israeli authorities concerned for procurement of the two Phalcon AWACS come in the midst of India's bitter border row with China in high-altitude eastern Ladakh.
