Pranab Mukherjee continues to be in deep coma, on ventilator: Hospital

Former President Pranab Mukherjee continues to be in deep coma and on ventilator support, the Army Research and Referral Hospital said today. He was admitted to the Army's Research and Referral Hospital in Delhi Cantonment on August 10, where he was operated for removal of a clot in the brain. Thereafter, he developed a lung infection and is being treated for the same. The former President had also tested positive for COVID-19 at the time of his admission, the hospital said.

Rajasthan to re-open religious places from September 7

Rajasthan will re-open religious places in the state from September 7 after months of closure amid the COVID-19 pandemic. "All the religious places in the state that were closed for common devotees in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic, will re-open from September 7. All precautionary measures to ensure safety against the disease will have to be mandatorily follow," the government said in its order.

Maharashtra: 3 hospitals sealed for operating without fire NOC

Three private hospitals in Kalwa area in Maharashtra have been sealed for operating without the NOC from the fire department and not having the biomedical waste treatment facilities, officials said. The Thane Municipal Corporation issued an order on Wednesday for sealing the Sai Seva Health Centre in Bhaskar Nagar, and the Jana Seva Hospital and Sri Matoshri Arogya Kendra, both in Waghoba Nagar.

Heavy rains, flash floods in J&K's Rajouri; people in low-lying areas advised to stay alert

People residing along with the river areas and in higher reaches in Rajouri district have been advised to stay alert following heavy rains in the region, said, Liaqat Choudhary, Additional Superintendent of Police, Rajouri. "We have made an announcement in the regions along with the river...especially in the areas near Tawi River like Thana Mandi, Rajouri district, Nowshera and Manja Kot. If rains lash a specific region, we will accordingly inform other regions to stay alert as the river flow may increase," said Choudhary.

India records highest single-day spike of 75,760 COVID-19 cases; tally crosses 33-lakh mark

India witnessed a spike in coronavirus cases again on Thursday morning after the country recorded as many as 75,760 new coronavirus cases and 1,023 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to Union health ministry data. India's Covid-19 tally crossed 33 lakh-mark with Maharashtra recording the highest number of cases.
