Mental health issues on rise amid pandemic, over 1,300 seek Maharashtra govt's help

Amid the coronavirus-enforced lockdown, more than 1,300 people battling mental stress and depression have approached the Maharashtra government with requests for medical help, a state health official said. Private doctors also claimed that the number of people suffering from depression, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and phobia of stepping out of home has significantly increased in the last few months.

Drive to Murthal Dhaba post lockdown turns fatal for friends. Highlights risks on NH and need for precautions

Drive to a popular Dhaba in Murthal (Haryana) for a midnight snack turned fatal for four school friends from Rohini when their car met with an accident on the National Highway-44 connecting Delhi to Chandigarh. When five friends --all in their early 20s-- decided to take a trip to Sonipat's famous Dhaba they would have never imagined what lied in store. Four out of the five friends did not survive the crash. Subham Sharma, Tushar Gupta, Vaibhav Sakral and Megha Khatri, all 23 years of age, died in the accident while another Jyoti Swaroop was injured.

India records 60,975 new COVID-19 cases, 848 deaths; tally crosses 31-lakh mark

India on Monday recorded as many as 60,975 new coronavirus cases and 848 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to Union health ministry data. The total cases of coronavirus infections mounted to 31,67,324 while the death toll climbed to 58,390 deaths the data updated at 8 am showed. Out of these 24,04,585 recovered, according to the health ministry.

Ram Vilas Paswan admitted in hospital, condition stable

Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution Ram Vilas Paswan, who is hospitalised due to heart and kidney problems, is said to be stable. Sources said that he may be discharged from the hospital on Tuesday after routine checkup.

Maharashtra: 2 dead, 19 still missing in Raigad building collapse; rescue operations underway

At least two persons have been reported dead after a five-storey residential building collapsed in Raigad district of Maharashtra Monday evening. The incident was reported in the Kajalpura area of the district, where as many as 19 people are still feared trapped under the debris of the collapsed structure, while 7 have been rescued so far. The search and rescue operations at the site of the collapsed building still continue.
