Omicron variant LIVE Updates: Telangana reported five new cases of COVID variant Omicron in the past 24 hours, taking the total tally to 67 in the state, informed Telangana Health Bulletin on Thursday. Of these 67 Omicron cases, a total of 22 people have recovered and been discharged from the state-run Telangana Institute of Medical Sciences (TIMS) hospital so far, the bulletin informed. Meanwhile, Telangana has also reported 280 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, taking the cumulative cases to 6,81,587. The state has also reported one death in the last 24 hours taking the overall death toll to 4,025. As many as 206 people have been recovered from the coronavirus infection on Thursday while the cumulative recoveries stand at 6,73,999. The recovery rate is 98.88 percent.

Omicron will soon replace Delta as dominant global variant: Experts

Experts in Singapore, where 170 new Omicron cases were reported on Wednesday, have warned that the new and supposedly more contagious variant is likely to replace Delta over the coming weeks to months. While Delta is still the most common variant in all continents except Africa, Omicron is spreading very quickly, said Dr Sebastian Maurer-Stroh, executive director of the state-owned Agency for Science, Technology and Research's Bioinformatics Institute.

Omicron variant LIVE Updates: Karnataka has reported five new cases of Omicron variant, said State Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar on Wednesday. Of these five new cases, one had travelled from the United States of America, another from the United States of America via Qatar, one returned from Dubai, one arrived from Ghana via Doha and one came from Mumbai. Of the five, four are male patients and one is female. The Health Minister informed that those who tested positive for Omicron include a 22-year-old woman from Davanagere, who had travelled from the USA, a 24-year-old man from Bengaluru, who came from USA via Qatar, a 53-year-old man from Tamil Nadu who arrived at KIAL from Dubai and a 61-year-old man from Bengaluru, travelled from Ghana via Doha. "All positive persons have been isolated and primary and secondary contacts have been identified and tested," Dr K Sudhakar said in a tweet. Karnataka on Wednesday reported 566 fresh COVID-19 cases, 245 recoveries, and six deaths. With the addition of new cases, the cumulative case tally in the state mounted to 30,05,798, of which 7,771 are active cases. The death toll is 38,324.

India reports 6,531 new COVID-19 cases in last 24 hours; active caseload stands at 75,841

India on Monday reported 6,531 new Covid-19 cases and 315 deaths, according to the health ministry. This pushed the total active cases to 75,841 and the death count to 4,79,997. While the total number of Omicron cases has jumped to 578 in the country and at least 151 have recovered, the health ministry said on Monday. The recovery rate currently stood at 98.40%.

Omicron Variant LIVE Updates: Telangana reported 3 new cases of the new COVID variant, Omicron in the last 24 hours, according to the state health department. With this, the total number of Omicron cases rose to 41 in the state out of which 10 patients have recovered completely and were discharged from the state-run TIMS hospital. According to the COVID status bulletin by the health department on Saturday, as many as 333 passengers arriving from "At Risk" countries were screened at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on the day. A total of 8 such passengers were found to be COVID positive. All eight samples have been sent for genome sequencing, of which none of the passengers travelling from the "At risk" countries tested positive.3 samples of the passengers travelling from countries other than "At risk" countries were tested positive on a random sampling basis for the Omicron variant. The results of the 5 samples are awaited.India's tally of Omicron cases has surpassed the 400 mark till now.

COVID-19 India Live News Updates: India recorded 7,189 new cases of the novel coronavirus, along with 387 deaths due to the infection in the past 24 hours. According to the data shared by the Union Health Ministry on Saturday, the country saw a total of 7,286 discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total recovery rate at around 98.40 per cent which is the highest since March 2020 and total recoveries data reached to 3,42,23,263.
