Uttar Pradesh Unlock: Corona curfew to be lifted in 61 districts from June 1

The Uttar Pradesh government has announced that Covid-induced curfew will be lifted in six more districts as the state prepares to 'unlock' following a dip in the fresh cases. Earlier on Sunday, the state had said that relaxations will be provided in 55 of the 75 districts where cases have dropped below 600. The list was revised on Monday with addition of six more districts --  Bijnor, Moradabad, Deoria, Baghpat, Prayagraj and Sonbhadra.

India logs 1,52,734 single-day COVID cases; 2.38 lakh recoveries

India on Monday recorded 1,52,734 new cases of the novel coronavirus, along with 3,128 deaths due to the infection. According to the data shared by the Union Health Ministry, the country saw a total of 2,38,022 discharges in the last 24 hours, taking the total recovery to 2,56,92,342. The total cases of COVID-19 in India have now mounted to 2,80,47,534, with 20,26,092 active cases, the data showed. The total death toll in the country is now at 3,29,100. A total of 21,31,54,129 people have so far been vaccinated against COVID-19 in India.

Jammu and Kashmir administration on Sunday issued fresh COVID-related restrictions, with some relaxations in the Union Territory (UT) to be implemented from tomorrow until further orders. The COVID-19 death toll in Jammu and Kashmir rose to 3,870 on Sunday with 29 more fatalities, while 2,256 new cases pushed the infection count to 2,88,940, officials said. Of the fresh cases, 823 were from the Jammu division and 1,433 were from the Kashmir division, they said.

Delhi unlock process begins from today. All you need to know

The process of lifting the lockdown gradually in the capital will begin from today, starting with the resumption of construction activities and the reopening of factories for a week. Fugitive diamantaire Mehul Choksi has been moved to the government quarantine facility in Dominica, according to sources on Sunday. On Saturday, pictures of Choksi released by Antigua Newsroom showed him behind bars and with injuries on his hands and a swollen and bruised left eye. These were the first public pictures of Choksi, who had reportedly gone missing on Sunday (May 23) evening. He was later apprehended by Dominica Police on Wednesday and had been in their custody since then.
